Working at home is encouraged and the expectation gradually increases as children move through the school as it helps to develop a variety of skills, these include:

  • the ability to work independently

  • to consolidate learning

  • to develop research skills

  • to develop good habits in preparation for the later stages of their education

Homework is also a good way to promote partnership between home and school as many parents say they like to be involved in their children's learning. At Bromham Primary the expectation is that children in Year 4 do up to one and a half hours of homework each week, plus reading at home.

Year 4 are set:

  • Maths or English homework every week on Friday. This is due in the following Wednesday.

  • Spellings and Times Tables are also set every Friday. These are tested the following Thursday.

  • Every two weeks the children will be given a topic task in which there will be a choice of activities to complete. These are linked
to the topic the children are studying and may include craft activities or research.

We encourage your children to read regularly at home and talk about their book with you.
